Loupe

Tools for the parts of video work nobody enjoys.

A small family of Mac apps, made by a music video director in Japan for his own projects. One for collecting references before you cut, one for client notes after. The edit in between stays in the software you already use.

Loupe

Keep the seconds, not the file.

Save a link or a local video with a time range, and it loops the moment you open it. Split a video into cuts, see its rhythm and colors, and hand a board over as a PDF.

  • Free version. Pro is a one-time purchase
  • Everything stays on your Mac
  • Apple silicon, macOS 14 or later

Komame

Every note on the frame. Every round counted.

Clients open a link and draw on the shot. No account, no app. Check each fix against the same frame of the last cut, and Komame keeps count of revision rounds against your contract. Koma is Japanese for a single frame; komame means minding the small details.

  • In testing now, waitlist open
  • Footage stays on your Mac. Only an expiring review copy is shared
  • One-time purchase planned

Your footage stays home

References and client footage stay on your own Mac, not on someone else's server.

Built from real projects

The maker uses both apps on his own music videos. Features that don't solve a real problem don't go in.

Shinobu Fujimoto

Video director and editor in Japan. Freelance since 2022, running a small editing team.

I make music videos. I got tired of hunting for the same reference clip again and again, and of sending screenshots that say "the hand at 12.4 seconds."

So I turned those two things into tools: Loupe for collecting references, Komame for client notes. I use both on my own projects first, and only ship what I actually need.
